Mixed Ages (birth to 5 years)
This is the essential Music Together® class, one that a child can attend from birth to age five, through all nine song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers - grouping children of a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together! Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments. Any caregivers - parents, grandparents, nanny - can bring the children. The whole family is welcome for this important family musical experience!
Generations Mixed Age
Music Together Generations is a Mixed Age music class with the sweetest twist: the addition of elder participants! In this extension of the beloved Music Together program, teachers and families foster meaningful musical relationships across the ages, as "Musical Grandfriends" join the music-making circle. Expanding our mixed-age community in this way enriches the experience for families. Regardless of age, spirits are lifted, learning across multiple domains is stimulated, and meaningful connections are made. Children and families, especially those without extended family nearby, discover the value of intergenerational relationships and become more comfortable engaging with older adults. Elder participants enjoy witnessing children's joyful music-making and find a sense of purpose in being a part of our circle, which combats isolation and depression. The cognitive, physical, social and emotional benefits for both children and elders make the Generations class a heart-warming win-win for all!
Babies Only Classes (birth to 8 months)
The Music Together Babies class is geared exclusively towards families with infants from birth through eight months, and is a one-semester introduction to Music Together and to early childhood music development. Following this one (8 week) semester, families are ready to join the Mixed Age classes. The music activities in a Babies class are specifically designed to teach parents how to support music development in infancy and how to connect with their infants through music, using concepts like "purposeful touch," "sound layering," and "dancing for baby." Babies classes use the same collection as Mixed-Age classes, giving families a seamless transition between class programs.
Our ten week (unless otherwise specified) semester includes songs, rhythmic rhymes, movement, and instrument play in classes of 45 to 50 minutes. These activities are presented as informal, non-performance-oriented musical experiences--developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers--regardless of their own musical ability. Class materials for all Family Classes will include one CD plus a songbook, an access code for digital download of songs in the current collection, as well as access to Music Together's Family Music Zone and Hello Everybody app!

Guitar for Grownups
Music Together Guitar for Grownups is designed for parents and caregivers of children currently enrolled in a Music Together class. Over eight weeks, in each 60 minute class, you'll learn basic guitar technique and selected songs from the current song collection, so that you can make even MORE beautiful music at home! This class is perfect for beginners who have never held a guitar, or for those who know just a little guitar. Sing and build technique and musicianship in an organic, relaxed way while learning to play Music Together songs on guitar. You'll receive a collection-specific workbook that uses a simplified approach to help you begin playing immediately. Think of your child's response to your wizardry when you go home after the first class with a song from the songbook that you can play and sing with them!
Guitar students must be a parent, caregiver or family member of a child registered in our current term of Music Together classes. Our guitar classes are limited to eight students to ensure a relaxed group environment that fosters great relationships and participatory music-making.
Participants bring their own guitar, capo and tuner.
